3E Company Extends MSDS Management System to Support REACH Chemical Regulatory Framework
New 3E Online-MSDS module facilitates compliance with new EU obligations

Monday, December 17, 2007 — 3E Company®, the leading provider of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, today introduced the 3E Online REACH Module for use with 3E Online-MSDS, its award-winning material safety data sheet (MSDS) management system. The new Module leverages 3E Online-MSDS' core foundation to offer customers unprecedented support for complying with Europe's Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) regulatory framework for chemical substances.

The new REACH Module allows users to leverage MSDS section three substances, in addition to customer-specific substance information, to categorize individual products according to REACH requirements. The Module also enables users to identify a substance's tonnage and current product classifications, as well as generate a list of substances, thereby increasing efficiency and promoting enhanced compliance. These new capabilities complement 3E Online-MSDS's advanced compliance management features, which enable companies to easily obtain and manage raw material MSDSs.

The core 3E Online-MSDS platform helps users establish an inventory of substances by entity. As users assign products to an entity, 3E Company's team of experts provides the MSDS and the related data from the MSDS to determine the substances in each of the assigned products. The 3E Online REACH Module leverages this existing feature as well as 3E Online-MSDS's robust and reliable platform to allow users to determine their own REACH role for each product (i.e. Manufacturer/Importer or Downstream User). It also allows users to upload annual volume data, which they can use to calculate substance tonnage for determining REACH registration requirements.

Once the information is compiled, the 3E Online REACH Module helps users deformulate mixtures by volume and by REACH role, thereby enabling users to determine which products require pre-registration. Customers can also review inventories by downstream user products and provide manufacturers with use information by substance. 3E Company's team of experts continually updates its vast library of MSDSs and regulatory content to ensure that its customers utilize only the most accurate and consistent data available.

"As companies around the globe continue to be impacted by REACH, 3E Company remains committed to helping our customers understand their regulatory obligations and achieve regulatory compliance," said Jytte Syska, president of Ariel and European operations at 3E Company. "As new regulations are drafted and implemented, and the scope of existing EH&S regulations are modified and expanded, we remain committed to easing the burden of regulatory compliance by developing the most innovative compliance solutions and services available."

In addition to the REACH Module, 3E Online-MSDS also offers a RegImpact Module which facilitates REACH compliance management by helping users determine if any of their products contain substances that are likely to appear on the candidate list or result in authorization requirements. The RegImpact Module also provides access to the unrivaled Ariel chemical regulatory database, including an expanded regulatory impact analysis feature to enable better understanding of the impact of regulatory changes on a user's raw materials, components and products.

The 3E Online-MSDS REACH Module is available immediately for use with 3E Online-MSDS Standard Edition and 3E Online-MSDS Expert Edition. Pricing is based on an annual program fee and the number of products managed in the user's inventory.
