3E Company Acquires HSE Systems
Award-winning Ariel regulatory content now available for MSDgen authoring system

Friday, June 01, 2007 — 3E Company®, the leading provider of environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, today announced that it has acquired HSE Systems, the developer of MSDgen, a leading enterprise solution for authoring and distributing material safety data sheets (MSDS) and labels. 3E Company will now feature HSE Systems' MSDgen authoring tool among its award-winning compliance solutions targeted at product stewardship and product safety.

While 3E Company already boasts a strong suite of MSDS authoring services on multiple platforms, the acquisition expands its MSDS authoring offering by serving the corporate product stewardship in-house MSDS authoring community. MSDgen completes 3E Company's comprehensive authoring offering, which now includes solutions for those who wish to author MSDSs in-house, as well as for those who wish to partially or fully outsource their MSDS authoring program.

As a result of the acquisition, 3E Company's Ariel regulatory content will become available to the MSDgen platform. 3E Company's Ariel regulatory content provides unprecedented support for identifying, monitoring and complying with complex and ever-changing EH&S requirements. More than 300 multinational organizations, including seventy percent of the world's largest chemical manufacturers and users, rely on Ariel content every day. MSDgen users will now have the option of Ariel data to support authoring using MSDgen.

"The acquisition of HSE is an important step forward in 3E Company's expansionary growth strategy, as we continue providing our customers with innovative and industry-defining solutions that ease the burden of regulatory compliance," said Robert S. Christie, CEO and president, 3E Company. "We look forward to working with the impressive MSDgen corporate user base to carry out ongoing innovation to the MSDgen platform as well as leveraging our global presence to bring the platform to new markets."

"We are proud to be working with the company that pioneered the EH&S information services industry, and we are confident that our MSDgen platform will prove to be a valuable asset to 3E's strategic product offering," said Matthew A. Johnston, director, corporate development, HSE Systems. "We are also extremely excited about the growth opportunities that will develop as a result of working with a global company like 3E."

3E Company and HSE Systems share a common vision; both companies aim to alleviate the burdensome aspects of compliance by providing EH&S professionals with best-in-class tools and services. 3E's product and service offering addresses the entire lifecycle of a chemical, and the addition of the MSDgen further strengthens its presence in the upstream, product stewardship-focused portion of the lifecycle, complementing the Company's Ariel line of regulatory data and services.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. HSE Systems will continue to operate from its Massillon, Ohio site as part of 3E Company.
