3E Announces SAP EH&S-Compatible Productivity-Enhancing Tool
Company Introduces Add-on Module to Ariel Data Manager/Staging Area for SAP that Enables Easy and Efficient Regulatory Change Management and Impact Analysis

Monday, May 02, 2005 — 3E Company®, the leading provider of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) compliance and information management services, announced today at the America's SAP Users Group (ASUG) Annual Conference and Vendor Fair, the release of the Ariel™ Data Integration Productivity Pack (DIPP). Ariel DIPP is available as an add-on module to current Ariel Data Manager™ (ADM)/Staging Area for SAP customers for integration of global chemical regulatory data into SAP EH&S.

Chemical manufacturers are challenged with identifying and tracking regulatory changes in order to maintain compliance. They need access to global regulatory information to fully understand the impact of such changes on their business. ADM/Staging Area for SAP provides direct access to Ariel regulatory content from within SAP EH&S and connects to a central data server for on-demand access to user-selected regulatory information.

When an update to the data is conducted, the new add-on DIPP module provides a significant boost in productivity by providing highly efficient change management and impact analysis functionality. Users can identify exactly which substances have changed from one update to the next, before even beginning the update. Rather than starting with the entire set of substances, users can narrow their hit list to include only substances that have been impacted by regulatory changes. DIPP features include:
  • Impact Analysis for Regulatory Changes – summarizes the number of specification records impacted by change, the number of records impacted by direct hits and those involving generics, and yields insight into the amount of effort required to adopt a set of regulatory changes. It also identifies what and how specific records have been impacted.
  • Impact Analysis for Phrase Changes – identifies phrases containing a specific string of characters, phrases required to support a specific country or region and phrases impacted by change over a specified time frame.
  • Maintenance of Filters – a utility is provided with DIPP that enables the settings to be exported to a file, settings changed, and settings imported to the registry. The flexibility introduced by the ability to maintain multiple filters supports the rapid adoption of regulatory changes.
  • Creation of SAP Hit Lists – the specification record keys identified in the impact analysis for regulatory changes may be exported to Microsoft® Excel and imported into SAP EH&S as hit lists. Insight gained into what has changed and the ability to support multiple filters enables the Autoload feature of ADM/Staging Area for SAP, significantly reducing the amount of time required to process regulatory changes.

"We're seeing more and more companies develop loading tools for serving regulatory content directly into SAP EH&S. The competitive advantage our solution offers is the quality of the content that is available for integration, and the tremendous time savings DIPP provides for identifying the impact of regulatory changes on your business," said Robert S. Christie, president and CEO of 3E Company. "This tool is yet another in a series of planned enhancements to address the ongoing needs and demands of the SAP EH&S market."

Ariel DIPP is available to all current ADM/Staging Area for SAP customers. To find out about implementation and pricing, contact a 3E sales representative by calling 800-360-3660 or send an email to info@3ecompany.com.
