I've been told that grease trap waste is non-hazardous.  Is this true?

Typically grease trap waste is not federal or state regulated as a Hazardous Waste (HW). This type of waste is not listed as hazardous nor does it have characteristics of a HW (based on generators knowledge). However it is regulated on a local level by the County Department of Health and or City. The material/waste that is trapped is regulated from going into storm drains, landfills, city sewer systems or any other type of water ways. Grease trap waste must be disposed of at an appropriate treatment facility or other approved disposal method and transported with a non-hazardous manifest.  This of course is the grease, solids and water collected from restaurant grease interceptors that are usually pumped and cleaned on a routine basis as maintenance. In addition to generator knowledge, analytical testing (STLC, TTLC, TCLP) is another alternative to prove that a material/waste is non-hazardous.

3E has announced the April 1 availability of Version 3.2 of its Ariel Product Line's flagship product, Ariel WebInsight. The new release enables Boolean chemical name searches and boasts a query builder tool that provides assistance with constructing search arguments using the logic operators of AND, OR and NOT.  In Version 3.2 the number of CAS RNs that can be searched at one time in pre-defined queries has been extended, resulting in increased productivity.  This upgrade will be seamless to current users. To read the press release, click here.  We will be conducting web-based training sessions to provide tips on effective searching of the chemical database on April 1 at 9:00 a.m. EDT and 3:00 p.m. EDT. You can register to attend a complimentary web-based training session at the following links:

How to get the most out of Ariel WebInsight

Need to find every formula for hexavalent chromium regardless of how it is specifically named in the database?  Boolean search logic and wildcards enable you to eliminate multiple searches by using search operators.  For example, enter *chromium* AND (*hex* OR *VI* OR *6*) and the search will return every record containing any one of those terms.

Streamline Your Operations By Outsourcing MSDS Compliance

Are you authoring MSDSs?
Do you have regulatory compliance processes in place?
Do you track MSDSs downstream to end-user customers?
Do you have an authorized contact for employees or customers
to call in case of emergencies?

If you answered NO to these questions, you’re like most manufacturers trying to stay on top of global regulatory changes.  Manufacturers with decentralized operations are looking for ways to reduce inefficiencies and redundancies; implement process improvements; reallocate internal resources; support legacy systems without IT resources; and grow a diminishing knowledge-base due to an aging workforce.

Ariel Manufacturer Services can help!  Ariel Manufacturer Services are the most powerful, comprehensive suite of EH&S compliance management services available on the market today.  Key offerings include:
  • Ariel MSDS Authoring – provides the necessary information in accordance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard, WHMIS Regulations, EU Directives, Country and State specific regulatory requirements to your downstream customers.  3E’s staff of multi-lingual authors, create, analyze and manage globally compliant MSDSs, product label content and hazardous materials transportation documents.
  • Ariel MSDS Hosting – hosts and maintains your MSDSs online and provides access to them via a manufacturer-specific website.  Your customers access this website 24-7-365 to search, view, print and email PDF versions of the MSDS.
  • Ariel MSDS eLink – access to MSDSs via the manufacturer’s website.  A link from the product or MSDS listing on the manufacturer’s website accesses the MSDS image hosted and maintained by 3E.  Customers have the ability to search, view and print PDF versions of the MSDS 24-7-365.
  • Ariel MSDS Push – ensures your MSDSs are sent, via email, fax or mail, to your customers as required on a designated, pre-determined schedule.
  • Ariel Manufacturer Emergency Response – publishes 3E’s toll free 800 number on your MSDSs as the contact for 24-7-365 access to 3E’s HazMat Mission Control Center specialists for emergency and non-emergency situations.
3E is the trusted provider to outsource your global MSDS compliance needs if you want to gain control over your MSDS compliance practices and peace of mind.

Maximizing EH&S Value Creation Through Data Integration

Join 3E Company for a free, educational Web Seminar – Maximizing EH&S Value Creation through Integration – part of 3E’s Best Practices Web Seminar Series.

Environmental, health & safety (EH&S) organizations must align their management systems with core business management systems to enable the business to create and sustain value.  The result is the consistency and continuous improvement of business processes, reduction of business liability and enhanced regulatory compliance.  Even though many EH&S organizations have been on this journey for some time, the execution of EH&S organizations has not always achieved the business results that were anticipated.

During this Web Seminar, Jeff Gibbons, 3E's Director of Professional Services, will discuss with participants selected key levers for EH&S value creation and how execution of these levers are impacted by the degree of business and data integration of the organization.
